LEARN MORE ABOUT US
Our Vineyards
Max Mavrud’s vineyards are planted with a variety of grape cultivars that continue to expand year after year.
Currently, the winery owns 14 hectares planted with Mavrud, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, which are used for red wine production, and 2 hectares planted with White Debinë, Black Debinë, and Perla, used for brandy production.
At optimal ripeness, the grapes reach an average of 23% Brix sugar content, resulting in an average alcohol content of 13.5% by volume.
Our History
The Mavrud, Merlot, and Pinot cultivars were grown during the communist regime in the 1980s in the Leskovik area, up to an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. They adapted very well to the climate, producing excellent results.
During the 1990s, following the fall of the dictatorship, many vineyards in Leskovik and throughout Albania were destroyed.
The Max Mavrud Winery family, with deep roots in this region, decided to invest in restoring the identity of Leskovik as a region internationally recognized for high-quality production. They chose to focus on these indigenous varieties, such as White and Black Debinë, along with international cultivars, as these grape types have left a lasting mark on the history of the Leskovik area.
